Dreaming of a MSSCCI-free world

Eric Sink is doing an online book called Source Control HOWTO, and added a post on Source Control Integration with IDEs.

Eric discusses the benefits, tradeoffs and problems of this integration.
Some of the problems he discusses have to do with MSSCCI (Microsoft Source Code Control Interface you know from Visual Sourcesafe).
These problems were the reason Eric always had reservations about integrating Source Control with IDE’s: the were sloppy, slow, and missing lots of features.

Eric is a happy man as Visual Studio 2005 introduced a new and greatly improved API for source control integration, but sorry for Eric, it’s still called MSSCCI!.
